A production and bottling standard with specific requirements.

A defined batch of origin
For bourbon, bottled in bond means whiskey from the same distiller, at the same distillery, during one distilling season, with the required common class and materials.
Age and strength
It must spend at least four years in wood and be bottled at 100 proof. The rule also controls alterations and the distillery identification on the label. The designation does not rank the flavor or promise that every drinker will prefer it.
